Buddy Writng

Today we did some buddy writing with room7. We helped them to Re-Craft their writing samples. This is me and my buddy Tj.I hope we get to do this again,it was fun!
I think the tsunami in Japan is the worse tsunami in Japan.
In Japan there was some broken objects like cars, boats and trees. The pedestrians feel upset for their houses. When the people saw the tsunami people were terrified of the tsunami because it’s destroying the pedestrians, cars, trees, boats and houses. The tsunami looks like a lot of water around Japan.

Tsunami Description

Hello this the news. It’s the afternoon in Japan. All the houses are clashing.People are wanting vengeance on the tsunami like a mob breaking into a castle. The houses falling, people running and screaming.

The water is surging through the objects like a gladiator that’s unstoppable.Water climbing on the houses.People feel heartbroken, and mothers brave for their children. Some children were screaming and crying like something has just come and taken homes from people. It is like a war between the earth and water.

I can feel the fear of screams everywhere. The power lines were collapsing over the water and they are sinking down into the water. The water is now climbing into the pedestrians’ shoes.  It Is catastrophic. The water’s crashing, the buildings clashing and people are now crying.Water is surging through buildings.

The force of nature is a tragedy. The tsunami has caused critical damage to objects in it’s path. This is terrifying. People are running further up the buildings, some even climbing up. The houses are fighting off the waves. Some people are feeling that their families are broken up. People can hear the crunch of rubble. This place looks like a catastrophe and destruction.

Layers of the Earth

We were learning to make a model of the layers of the earth out of play-dough.

So...that when we learn about natural disasters we can use our knowledge of the layers to understand them better

To... help us in topic and science and learn about the world around us.

Did you know, the crust is made out of 7 tectonic plates which contains continents and seas of the earth?  The crust is 15-75 km thick.

The mantle is made up by the upper mantle and the lower mantle.  The upper mantle is 400km thick and contains iron and magnesium silicates.  The lower mantle is 2300km thick and is more dense than the upper mantle.

The outer core is 2300 km thick.  It contains iron, nickel and sulphur and is made up from liquid.

The inner core is 1220 km thick and is solid.  It contains iron, nickel and sulphur.  The temperature can reach up to 6650 degrees celcius!

City Description

Dear Mum,

I am in New York City now.  You should come and see all the tourists, homeless and traffic jams! It’s packed over here, like a stampede of rhinos.  All the homeless begging and singing for money.  There  are way more people than in Tokyo.  There are a mixture of languages, phones ringing, the music in cars and money jingling.

Man I hated all the car smoke and cigarettee smoke.  Perfume was all over the place.  My stomach roared embarrassingly.  I stomped into Mac Donald’s. I brought a cheese burger and chewed hard like a tiger hunting its prey. I walked, sipping my drink. I gave my change to a man playing an  acoustic guitar while I was sipping my drink, and eating my burger. I saw a limo covered by paparazzii like a hailstorm.  I thought it was Jay-Z.  It was the best trip ever!

The What If Key

I have used the what if key to explain what would happen to people if harakeke wasn't around in the olden days.
  1. People will get sick
  2. People will get wounded
  3. People will have a sore toothache
  4. People will die more often
  5. People will get broken arms

Jaydens Description Writing

You won’t believe where I’ve just been... the past!  The time traveling machine went spinning in the same spot but the place changed. It was like a dream.I fell on the ground and scraped my elbow.  There were warriors using poi to help their wrists to become flexible and strong to use weapons like taiaha. It was awesome!

A tohunga came past and saw me.  He showed me around his village. I could see he was using his medic tools to help a wounded warrior.  Then he helped my elbow by strapping harakeke around it.
I could see the wonderful structures of their maraes.  Tekoteko with their beautiful paua eyes and harakeke rooved houses.  It was so misty. They let me in their marae and the kuia told me the rules. I took my shoes off.

I could see their mountains which were similar to our mountains and they didn’t have any footpaths of concrete just a muddy surface (ground).  All that smell of fire, smoke. I could hear the rocks being prepared for the hangi and the hangi smelt delicious!  It was cool. I could smell the beautiful fresh air.  We had a karakia in the marae.

You should have come and heard all the maori language and the trees swaying like a tornado was coming. We all walked out towards the eating house (whare kai).  There was a huge table with kai. I was rushing to the table while slipping my shoes on.  People were talking to me but I didn’t understand so I pulled out my Maori dictionary.   We had to say a karakia to bless the kai.  I got to eat first because I was a manuhiri.  The food was delicious. It was the best time in New Zealand history, ever!
